The International Industrial Exhibition - The Big 4 Show & The International Home Textile Exhibition - Home Textile will be inaugurated today at Damascus Fairground, Syria PDF Print E-mail

Under the patronage of Dr. Fuad Issa Jouni, Syrian Minister of Industry, the 6th edition of the International Industrial Exhibition THE BIG 4 SHOW will be inaugurated at 6:00 PM on Wednesday evening at Damascus Fairground, Syria. Simultaneously, the 1st edition of the International Home Textile Exhibition HOME TEXTILE will be inaugurated. The Industrial Exhibition which will go on for five days is witnessing outstanding presence of 258 local and international brands, and commercial and industrial trademarks from 30 countries. More than 92 local, Arabic and foreign brands from 14 countries are competing to introduce the best products and offers in the Home Textile Exhibition.

 

Mr. Alaa Hilal, CEO of Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences stated that: “What distinguishes this year’s edition of the International Industrial Exhibition, is the great concerns on environment addressed by seminars and workshops on Clean Industry under the name of “Towards an Industrial Clean Industry”, which will be held under the patronage of the State Ministry for Environmental Affairs in cooperation with many companies interested in these issues. It will include a variety of topics strongly related to environmental safety, and the subject of industrial water wastage treatment and environment friendly industrial HVAC, in addition to managing plastic wastes, and many other scientific and industrial specialized activities and events.

 

Hilal pointed to the participation of a large group of renowned companies that are internationally distinguished in the industrial field, which seek to establish connections with thousands of Syrian companies and industrial workshops from different backgrounds and specialties, in order to share their experiences and present latest products and offers, both in terms of high quality production lines and industrial equipment and machinery, which will contribute to the efforts spent to help updating and modernizing the Syrian industry.

 

Hilal also pointed that The Big 4 Show will host a separate pavilion dedicated to security and safety with the participation of local and international companies specialized in this genre, this comes as a result of the importance to maintain safety and security within the industrial production process, and as a contribution to the campaigns carried by a number of official bodies and associations aiming at encouraging companies and individuals to use modern tools, methods and technologies that help prevent occupational accidents and provide security and safety for all workers in factories, companies, buildings, etc.

 

As for the International Home Textile Exhibition HOME TEXTILE, Mr. Hilal assured that the first edition of the exhibition is witnessing a rich and large variety of local and international brands, indicating that the exhibition attracted important companies specialized in producing and decorating furniture and curtain fabrics, which offer an opportunity for Syrian furniture manufacturers to meet with the most important furniture fabric suppliers under one roof during the exhibition instead of traveling abroad to attend exhibitions for furniture fabrics, which are considered to be the most important raw material in the furniture industry.

 

Hilal emphasized on the importance of the participation of companies that produce and manufacture Persian and Turkish carpets, in addition to the important participation of companies from Syria and the gulf. The exhibition serves as a gateway for manufacturers and traders to both local and Arab markets, by displaying their wide variety of high quality products that comply with the different classes and tastes, and meet the needs of households, company offices and different architectural and touristic projects.

The Syrian Computer Society is holding a press conference Sunday, Oct 24th, 2010 to launch the preparation work for the 16th edition of the Information and Communication Technologies "SHAAM" exhibition at 7:00 PM in Al- Nubalaa Restaurant.
The Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences is appointed by the Syrian Computer Society to organize "SHAAM" the Information and Communication Technologies exhibition for the 4th time in a row.

 
Economic cooperation - Syria invites China to carry out vital projects PDF Print E-mail

China (Ningxia) - Minister of Trade and Economy Lamia Assi discussed on Sunday with Governor of Ningxia autonomous region Wang Zhengwei economic cooperation and means of enhancing them in the interests of the two countries.

The meeting comes in the framework of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum held in China.

Minister Assi called upon Chinese companies and businessmen to carry out vital projects in Syria, especially in relation to infrastructure through real and strategic partnerships with the Syrian private sector.

Zhengwei underlined the importance of the Forum and its role in bolstering cooperation between China and the Arab countries in economic and cultural domains.

On another note, Minister Assi discussed with Assistant Governor of China Development Bank Zhao Jianping cooperation prospects in banking.

Assi noted the economic reforms in Syria during the past years, especially in the banking sector, calling for the establishment of a Syrian-Chinese bank.

Chairman of the Syrian-Chinese Businessmen Council Mohammad Hamsho stressed the importance of the bank's participation in financing development projects in Syria with appropriate interest rates.

For his part, Jianping underscored the importance of deepening cooperation with Syria, signaling readiness for the bank to be a partner in infrastructure projects.

Syria - China: Technical Negotiations on Quality and Specifications Assurance Agreement PDF Print E-mail

Beijing, - Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Lamia Assi discussed on Wednesday with Chinese Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) means of enhancing economic cooperation between Syria and China.

Assi proposed the possibility of signing Quality and Specifications Assurance Agreement between the two sides as to raise the exports' volume between Syria and China, adding that the agreement will reduce goods supervision measures, which is to cut prices of goods for consumers.

Assi stressed the importance of developing economic relations between the two countries to achieve equal trade exchange balance, praising China's support to Arab causes.
Shuping hailed Syrian-Chinese relations as historic, noting the advanced level of diplomatic relations which were further bolstered through partnerships and Syria's participation in economic activities organized by China. He welcomed signing the agreement with Syria.

The two sides agreed to start the technical negotiations on the Quality and Specifications Assurance Agreement in three weeks.
During talks with President of China Council For The Promotion Of International Trade (CCPIT) Wan Jifei, Assi said China is Syria's primary trade partner, underlining the importance of Syrian-Chinese trade relations.

Assi called for upgrading trade relations to cover joint investments and benefit from Syria's advantages, such as its geographical position and the trade companies it set up through signing free and bilateral trade agreements.

The minister reviewed Syria's reforms which made it an emerging and promising market, calling upon Chinese companies to benefit from Syria's favorable climate to carry out investment projects.
Jifei underscored the importance of the economic relations with Syria, citing the trade exchange volume between the two countries despite the world economic crisis in 2009.

He voiced relief over the excellent progress of relations, pledging to pursue efforts to broaden trade exchange, vitalize bilateral investments and to encourage Chinese businessmen to invest in Syria. Minister Assi is to take part in the economic activities hosted by Shanghai EXPO and the China-Arab Economic and Trade Forum in Ningxia.

 
Syria, China strengthening economic relations and investment opportunities PDF Print E-mail

China (Beijing) - The 3-day meetings of the Syrian-Chinese Joint Committee starts in Beijing, Global Arab Network reports according Syrian News Agency.

Many agreements, memos of understanding and cooperation protocols in many domains will be signed at the end of the meetings.

Head of the Syrian delegation, Assistant Minister of Economy and Trade Khalid Saluta, told SANA that the Ministry seeks to strengthen economic, commercial, and investment relations with China in addition to opening new cooperation prospects to raise the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

Saluta added that Syria will take part in the first Sino-Arab economic and trade forum and in the symposium of investment and international trade.

In the same context, Syria will take part in the International Fair For Investment and Trade and the first Sino-Arab Economic and Trade Forum scheduled to be held from 21-27 September in Beijing, China.

The forum includes three main activities; high ranking economic forum and 2 commodity and mutual investments shows.

It will also focus on facilitating trade and Arab-Chinese investments, funding, infrastructure projects and the cultural tourism and it will be an important platform for exchanging expertise, opinions, proposals and for offering strategic visions on upgrading the joint cooperation.

The Forum also is set to discuss ways of supporting joint investments and prospects of investments in China-Arab joint projects such as energy saving, money, funding and construction projects.

Senior Arab and foreign officials in addition to ambassadors, commercial attachés of Arab and Muslim countries to China, heads of associations, trade bodies and chambers, international experts and researchers will also participate in the Forum.

The Syrian delegation to the forums will be headed by Minister of Economy and Trade Lamia Assi. M.
