BUILDEX was found in Syria responding to the great economical growth, important investment facilities, changes and needs of the Syrian market, and due to its annual conclusive success it turned to be a unique opportunity for all in every sector to witness the latest innovations in building and construction industry at one of the most exciting international trade gathering at Damascus Fairground-Syria.
The set of distinguished agreements with Arab and European countries reflect positively on the 14th edition of BUILDEX 2008, to be the door access for Arab and European Companies to the Middle Eastern market. BUILDEX is now recognized as a global meeting point for builders and buyers.
BUILDEX became a Syrian economic phenomenon that extends to the outside of Arab World. BUILDEX activates the commercial movement in the constructional development and building sector, and not only contributes in building market refreshment, but also in achieving the balance of prices in this market.
BUILDEX 2008, The14TH International Exhibition for Construction, was held on Damascus Fairground from 12 – 16 May 2008, with a remarkable success.
On 12 May, Under the patronage of The Prime Minister, BUILDEX 2008 was inaugurated by MR. GHYATH JARAATLI - Minister of State for Investment Affairs, MR. JOSEPH SWEID- Minister of State for Parliament Affairs, Eng. HUSSEIN FERZAT- Minister of State for Vital Projects, MR. GHASSAN EID – Vice Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, MR. HUSSEIN ALI TAHANE- Governor of
Baghdad
City.
Government, Diplomats, Officials, Local and Arab and International News Media Corresponds, were also present at the opening ceremony.
By the beginning of the Syrian economic regulations openness and the increase interest in the Syrian market, thirst for a large number of goods, BUILDEX'2008 was a remarkable event for the participating companies to introduce their business and display their products to a larger number of visitors from
Syria and neighboring countries.
BUILDEX 2008 offered an excellent opportunity to promote contacts between international business and industries with potential buyers and decisions makers from the region.

EXHIBITORS PROFILE:
The Participation of International al companies (direct or through their Agents) gave BUILDEX 2008 an international al position (idem last editions).
BUILDEX 2008 joined 580 Exhibitors representing more than 1795 Brands.
BUILDEX 2008 Grouped companies from 54 different countries presenting their latest construction technology, building materials and services.
BUILDEX 2008 welcomed the official participation group of companies in Nation al pavilion from,
Turkey,
Egypt,
China and
Belgium. Companies from
Austria,
Germany and
Italy were present also at BUILDEX 2008.
BUILDEX Exhibitors Comments were very positive.
BUILDEX returned questionnaires (540 in total) indicated that 10% of exhibitors thought that the quality of visitors was fair or good and 90% said they were excellent.
There was 90% satisfaction with the number of visitors and 94% satisfaction with the exhibition advertising campaign. 80% of the exhibitors indicated that most of their objectives had been met.
Exhibitors reached their targets and expressed their interest to participate at the 15TH BUILDEX 2009.
VISITORS PROFILE:
BUILDEX 2008 welcomed more than 222,000 visitors (without counting officials and repeated visitors) from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, U.A.E, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Germany, Belgium, France and others.
This edition was specially marked by the visits of the : Vice Prime Minister for the Economical Affairs Dr. ABDALLAH DARDARI, Governor of BAGHDAD city with official delegation from different sectors in Iraq, also official Delegation from Syrian Governorates, Damascus and Aleppo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Syndicate of Contractors, Order of Syrian Eng. and Architects.
BUILDEX 2008, permit visitors to conclude business deals and agreements.
The registered visitors included architects, importers, Government purchasers, Contractors, agents, distributors, retailers, hoteliers, private buyers, and interior designers.
Included in the VIP category are government, ministers, ambassadors, diplomatic staff, chamber of commerce, industry and municipality directors.
